About the Fr. Louis Gootee Knights of Columbus

The Father Louis Gootee Council of the Knights of Columbus was formed at Nativity Parish in March 2002 by our pastor, Fr. Steve Schwab, and 35 men of the parish.  The Council is a parish based council, meaning that our primary charities and activities benefit our parish.  The council was named after Nativity’s founding pastor, Fr. Louis Gootee.  Since the time of our formation, membership has grown to over 100 members, and we are always looking for more good Catholic gentlemen to continue the work of our council.

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, family, and fraternal men’s service organization dedicated to the charitable, religious, and social work, not only in our parish, but in our community as a whole.  To that end the Fr. Louis Gootee Council has actively supported our church, our parish, our school and our community in various ways.  Most of you know us for our family breakfasts, fish fry, chili cook offs, Trivia Night, and our presence at Augustravaganza, but we are much more than that.

Over the years, our Council has donated tens of thousands of dollars and tens of thousands of man hours to various charities and organizations.  In addition to contributions to Nativity Church and School, charitable donations have been made to seminarians from Nativity and various other charities including St. Vincent De Paul, Boy Scouts, Right to Life March, St. Mary of the Woods, and Knights of Columbus Charities for natural disaster relief efforts.

While all of us have time commitments to other interests, please consider becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus. We do not want, nor expect, all of your free time, but any commitment to help our parish will be welcomed and certainly beneficial.  Individual Knights do not work each event, but donate their available time as they can.  Your commitment to the Father Louis Gootee Council will be a positive and worthwhile experience. We look forward to discussing the benefits of Knighthood with you.

We meet on the first Monday of every month at Nativity Parish Center.  We start with a rosary at 6:30pm, followed by the business meeting at 7pm.

See our “upcoming events” page for a list of upcoming events either sponsored by the Knights, or important to our community.
